Servicing to the X22~24's lid hooks and hinges within figures

One of my clients, who is using a ThinkPad X22, damaged one of the lid hooks of his notebook. It is considered the lid hooks and the hinges as the most likely potential troubles of X2-series. Therefore I take some photos to share the servicing process.

Only for X22 X23 X24. The hooks are different in X20 and X21, thus not supported.

OK, let's go.

Explanation：foolbird

Patient：X22

About the lid hook

To start with, one torque driver and a knife is needed.

First, remove the three adhesive cover on the front bezel with the knife.

Remove the cover on the LCD rear cover.

Remove the screws as the figure shown.
Note: No need to remove the upper screws which fix the hooks now.

Remove the three screws from the front bezel.

Slide the whole bezel from the upper side to the bottom, in order to remove it.

Remove the two screws which fix the hinges.

Now it is possible to separate the LCD panel from the rear cover.

Separated.

Carefully unplug the LCD cable.

In order to avoid scratching the LCD panel, you can put something upon the keyboard.

It is well prepared till now.

Now remove the screws which fix the hooks.

Carefully remove the dead hook.

Finally, install the new hook, then assemble the whole laptop.

About hinges

Remove the three screws which fix the keyboard.

Push the keyboard from the palmrest side to the LCD side, then it is easy to remove.

Unplug the keyboard cable.

Remove the hinge cover.

Remove the screws.

Again at right side.

Remove the four screws fixing hinges.

Another one inside the LCD front bezel.

It is easy to exchange it.

Install the new hinge(s), then assemble it.

Brilliant post, nice pics as well. But one thing sould be really bare in ur mind is: always release the battery in advance.

Do not unscrew any parts with the battery on the machine.
I'd rather believe the pics are in wrong order...
